Elevator training on a model

Introduction
This is a sequence of videos for elevatortraining on a model. The video shows the setup and the equipment to be used. There is also a step by step instruction. The teeth to be used are the primary premolars on the pig, which resemble human teeth. The will be used to train on using the elevator.

Incision and raising the flaps
You start with a horizontal incisionadn then a vertical incison. Start at the distal corner of the molar and continue over the premolars. You should use both premolar teeth for traning. At the first premolar make the releasing vertical incision. Start the raising of the flap at the corner of the incision and be careful to keep the periosteum intact.

Removal of the crown
The crown should be separated from the roots to resemble a broken crown during extraction. This is done with a bur just beneath the crown through the root using saline. It is not necessary to drill completely through the crown and the rest is broken with the elevator.

Separation between the roots
The roots are separated with a drill and saline. The elevator is placed as shown and note the force to be used. The root is luxated carefully and slowly at both sides until it is elevated out of the socket and removed with a forceps.

Elevation of the root
The other root is used to simulate a situation where the crown is broken and the remainder of the root is below the level of the bone and impossible to extract without removing bone. The bone is removed carefully with the drill and saline. After this it is possible to elevate the root out.

Suturing
The suturing start at the angle between the horisontal and vertical incision. Place a number of single sutures both marginally and in the releasing incision.

    hi dear dr ehab :
i mean that the operator cut the interdental papila during incision ... then during elevation if the flap u held the piostial elevator making concavity facing the mucosa this cause laceration specially in the pig's thin mucosa......
